Venice in June: Weather, Events, Tides and Costs

What is the weather like in Venice in June?

Warm, bright and drier than the two months before it. Over the 1991 to 2020 reference period the daily maximum averages 24.8 degrees C and the overnight minimum 17.5 degrees C, each about 4 degrees above May (Open-Meteo, 2026). About 28.6 of the 30 afternoons reach 20 degrees C or more, roughly 14.1 reach 25 degrees C and about 1.1 reach 30 degrees C.

Station observations run hotter, because the recording site at Venezia Tessera sits off the water. Across the 580 June days the series covers, the mean maximum is 26.1 degrees C and the mean minimum 18.3 degrees C, with 35.0 degrees C the warmest June afternoon and 9.0 degrees C the coldest June night (Meteostat, 2026).

Rain totals 76.7 mm over about 9.3 wet days, against 93.1 mm in May and 83.4 mm in August, and the heaviest single June day in the period delivered 50.6 mm (Open-Meteo, 2026). Sunshine peaks with the solstice: about 388 hours across the month, behind July alone.

Individual years can run far hotter. At the ISPRA Lido station, June 2025 recorded the highest mean maximum of that year at 30.7 degrees C, after a jump of about 7 degrees from May, with a mean minimum of 20.7 degrees C. It was also the most anomalous month of 2025, at 2.5 degrees C above the 1991 to 2020 reference, while May, July and August carried the only negative anomalies of the year (ISPRA, 2026).

Does Venice flood in June?

Almost never, and never in daylight in the recorded series. Tide heights are measured against the Punta della Salute datum of 1897, and 80 cm above it is where the lowest ground in Piazza San Marco begins to flood (ISPRA, 2026).

Of the 324 tides of 110 cm or more recorded at Venice between 1872 and 2019, two fell in June. That places the month ninth, level with September and ahead of July and August, which have none at all. November holds 108 of the 324, December 79, October 45, February 36, January 28, March 11, April 8 and May 5 (ISPRA, Comune di Venezia & CNR-ISMAR, 2026). The two June events are 121 cm on 6 June 2002 at 20.05 and 117 cm on 16 June 2016 at 20.10.

June is absent from the register of exceptional tides. None of the 25 events of 140 cm or more listed for 1872 to 2019 fell in June, and the June maximum of 121 cm sits 73 cm below the all time high of 194 cm, set on 4 November 1966.

The most recent June event predates the barriers. On 4 June 2020 the tide reached 117 cm at Punta della Salute at 21.35 and 118 cm at the offshore Acqua Alta platform, four months before the MOSE system entered service in October 2020. Low water is a June non-event too: all 41 tides of 90 cm below datum or lower recorded from 1923 to 2024 fall between December and March.

What is on in Venice in June 2027?

The Architecture Biennale runs right through the month. The 20th International Architecture Exhibition, titled Do Architecture, opens on 8 May and closes on 21 November 2027, so every day of June falls inside it. Opening hours and ticket prices for 2027 were not yet published.

The theatre festival is the June fixture to watch for. The 54th International Theatre Festival ran from 7 to 21 June 2026 at the Arsenale, and the Biennale has named an artistic director for 2027 and 2028 without publishing dates (La Biennale di Venezia, 2026).

The fixed civic date is 2 June, the national holiday of the Republic, restored to that date from 2001 by Law 336 of 20 November 2000. In 2027 it falls on a Wednesday (Normattiva, 2026).

Castello closes the month. Saints Peter and Paul is a solemnity on 29 June, a Tuesday in 2027 (United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, 2026), and the Festa de San Piero de Casteo fills Campo San Pietro for about five days around it. Its 54th edition ran 26 to 30 June 2024 (Gente Veneta, 2024).

Four rowing races sit in the June pattern: Sant'Erasmo on the first Sunday, the Laguna-Brenta on the second, the Regata delle Scaule on the third weekend, and the Regata di SS. Giovanni e Paolo on the last Sunday, rowed by under-25s from Murano to the Mendicanti bridge (Voga Veneta, 2026). Races can shift when the season calendar appears each spring, and no 2027 calendar had been published.

Daylight, holidays and opening hours in June

June holds the longest days of the year. On 1 June 2027 Venice gets 15 hours 29 minutes of daylight, sunrise at 05.23 and sunset at 20.53 local time. The solstice falls on Monday 21 June, at 15 hours 44 minutes, sunrise 05.20 and sunset 21.04, with civil twilight running to about 21.40. By 30 June the day has shortened by three minutes, to 15 hours 41 minutes (Sunrise-Sunset.org, 2026). In practice the light holds past 21.30 for the whole second half of the month.

The holiday is 2 June, the festa nazionale della Repubblica (Normattiva, 2026). In 2027 it is a Wednesday, so it breaks the week rather than extending a weekend.

The main sites are on their longest timetable. The Doge's Palace runs summer hours from 1 April to 31 October, 09.00 to 19.00 with last admission at 18.00, and every Friday and Saturday from 1 May to 26 September it stays open to 23.00 with last admission at 22.00 (Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia, 2026). Those late evenings are the single biggest practical advantage of a June trip over a winter one.

The Basilica di San Marco opens 09.30 to 17.15 from Monday to Saturday, with last entry at 16.45, and at 14.00 on Sundays and holidays, which in 2027 includes Wednesday 2 June. The Campanile is on summer hours, opening at 09.30 with last entry between 20.00 and 20.30 and closing at 21.15 (Procuratoria di San Marco, 2026).

What does a visit to Venice in June cost?

June is the second most charged month of the access fee year, and the pattern is worth planning around.

Under the 2026 calendar the charge applied on 60 days from 3 April to 26 July, between 08.30 and 16.00. Sixteen of those days were in June, more than May's 15 or July's 12 and behind April's 17 alone. They ran 1 to 7 June, an unbroken week covering the Republic Day holiday on Tuesday 2 June and the weekend after it, then 12 to 14, 19 to 21 and 26 to 28, the remaining Friday to Sunday blocks (Venice Visit Pass, 2026). The fee is 5.00 EUR if paid by the fourth day before arrival and 10.00 EUR after that, applies from age 14, and covers the historic centre alone, with the lagoon islands not charged in 2026 and no charge for transit through Piazzale Roma, Tronchetto or the Stazione Marittima. No 2027 calendar had been published when this page was written.

Transport is unchanged by season. A single 75 minute Rete Unica ticket is 9.50 EUR, the Venezia Daily Pass 25.00 EUR, and multi-day passes 35.00, 45.00 and 65.00 EUR for two, three and seven days. A three day Rolling Venice ticket is 27.00 EUR for ages 6 to 29 on a 6.00 EUR card (ACTV, 2026).

The St Mark's Square museums ticket covering the Doge's Palace is 35.00 EUR full, 15.00 EUR reduced, or 30.00 EUR online at least thirty days ahead (Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia, 2026).

Heat, the sea and the Lido in June

June is the first month when the Adriatic is warm enough to swim in comfortably. Off the Lido the daily mean sea surface temperature averaged 22.9 degrees C across the three Junes of 2023 to 2025, against 17.8 degrees C in May and 26.1 degrees C in July, with the individual June means running from 22.5 to 23.2 degrees C (Open-Meteo, 2026). The beach is a genuine alternative to the queues in San Marco on the hottest afternoons.

Getting there is cheap and quick. A return waterbus ticket to Lido Santa Maria Elisabetta on route 14 is 16.00 EUR and is valid until 24.00 on the day of travel (ACTV, 2026).

Planning around the heat matters more in June than in any earlier month. The reference period gives about 14 afternoons at 25 degrees C or more and about one at 30 degrees C or more, but recent years have run well above that: the ISPRA Lido station recorded a June 2025 mean maximum of 30.7 degrees C, the highest monthly figure of that year, and an absolute 2025 maximum of 38.2 degrees C on 10 August (ISPRA, 2026; Open-Meteo, 2026).

June is also the calmest month of the year for pressure. In 2025 it showed the smallest barometric range of any month, about 12 hPa, against roughly 40 hPa in January, March and October (ISPRA, 2026). Settled weather is the June norm, which is why the month delivers its 388 hours of sunshine on 9.3 wet days.

Is June a good time to visit Venice?

It is the best balance of warmth, light and dry weather in the calendar, and it is expensive.

June gives a 24.8 degrees C average maximum, about 28.6 afternoons at 20 degrees C or better, 15 hours 44 minutes of daylight at the solstice, 76.7 mm of rain and about 388 hours of sunshine (Open-Meteo, 2026; Sunrise-Sunset.org, 2026). Deep flooding is effectively absent, with two of the 324 recorded tides of 110 cm or more falling in June and both of them after dark (ISPRA, Comune di Venezia & CNR-ISMAR, 2026). The Doge's Palace runs late every Friday and Saturday, and the sea off the Lido is at 22.9 degrees C.

The case against is cost and heat. The access fee applied on 16 June days in 2026, second only to April, and the seven-day run from 1 to 7 June catches anyone arriving for the Republic Day week (Venice Visit Pass, 2026). Recent Junes have run hot, with a 30.7 degrees C mean maximum at the Lido station in June 2025 (ISPRA, 2026).

May makes the useful comparison. It is about 4 degrees cooler at both ends of the day, wetter by 16 mm, and carries one fewer charged day, at the cost of nine fewer afternoons above 20 degrees C. If the aim is long evenings and settled weather, June wins. For space on the bridges, take the second half of the month and travel Monday to Thursday, which the 2026 calendar left free after 7 June.
